IN YOUR ELEMENT

The characteristics of the Rat Sign are tempered by one of the five Chinese elements of Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth overlaying a 5-year cycle of characteristics on the original 12-year cycle.

THE METAL RAT 1900 AND 1960
Of all the Rats, these are the toughest and most resolute. They are visionary and possess an emotional intensity that can lead to feelings of rage, envy, or possessiveness. They like to be in charge, and can act selfishly to get what they want. In relationships, business or personal, they can be obstinate. Metal rats have to bear in mind that meeting their partner halfway would help their relationships tremendously. They take great pride in their homes and enjoy decorating them in their impressively good taste.

THE WATER RAT 1912 AND 1972
Being guided by the Water element means these Rats have a knack for influencing people. With their strong intellectual powers and great insight, they are also great puzzle solvers. They are quick to understand others and are incredibly practical people. Rats apply their talents to their everyday lives, making them obliging, generous and compassionate to other people. Generally, they are liked and respected by everyone. Like all Rats, however, they can be determined to seek their own gain, and will not mind using these talents to achieve it - though generally without losing anyone's respect in doing so.

THE WOOD RAT 1924 AND 1984

Despite having a remarkable facade of self-confidence, deep down, Wood Rats are the least sure of themselves compared to other Rats. However, they wouldn't dream of showing this side of themselves to anyone. Only close companions of a Wood Rat would ever suspect that he or she had such self-doubt. In fact Wood Rats are often worried about downfall, despite their ability to find success. Well-liked, proficient, and good leaders at work, Wood Rats seem to function best when they are surrounded by family and friends. Cordial and delicate, they are usually well loved by family, friends and peers.

THE FIRE RAT 1936 AND 1996

Fire adds a bit of spontaneity and vigor to the already spirited Rat. These Rats like change and travel and are eager to start new projects or to take trips to exotic places. Fire Rats are likely to change their occupations and residences more often than most, and essentially shun any kind of routine. They can be anxious and impulsive, but their zest for life is quite irresistible, and they have the Rat's ability to along so well with others. Compared to other Rats, Fire Rats are likely to be more charitable, autonomous, and energetic and the least self-controlled.

THE EARTH RAT 1948 AND 2008

The Earth adds solidity to the Rat's personality. An Earth Rat is conventional and a good achiever who likes to establish roots early in order to make a secure future for himself and his family. These Rats have the typical Rat ingenuity and mental capacity, but a strong sense of reality often alludes them preventing them from going after anything that could be impromptu. Earth Rats are honorable and love to be stabilized. Slowly and steadily acquiring wealth gives them a sense of inner peace. Although they are capable of being stingy with their finances, they do possess warm feelings for their family and friends.

Health and home
RAT HEALTH

The affect of the sign of the Rat is energetic, and demonstrates enough endurance to fight most any sickness. Yet, all Rats tend to be tense, full of nervous energy, petulant and prone to stress. Rats also harbor a bit of aggression; yet, they are usually able to control it. Yoga would benefit Rats by calming their aggressive natures and helping them manage stress.

AT HOME WITH THE RAT

Rats make good homemakers who are always willing to do household chores. Rats are not usually interested in keeping up with the times, and it doesn't matter to them whether or not their furnishings are in style. What does matter is that their home is a refuge expressing warmth, comfort and vogue. Light blue is their color of choice for home decor. Because this is a sign of acquisition, the Rat person's house is presumably bursting with various knick-knacks collected over the years. Most Rats are cheerful, domesticated individuals who find happiness at home with their family.

Career and finance
THE RAT ON THE JOB

The Chinese say others should always listen to the advice of the Rat. Because of their intellect and observatory powers, Rat people possess prudence and perception. They can anticipate problems, and are always able to see the big picture. They can hone in on issues at hand and make measurable judgments. These skills, combined with their sense of aspiration also make them clever operators. Status, money, title, and recognition are important to the Rat. They have keen senses of observation that allow them to foresee upcoming business opportunities as well as potential occupational problems. The Rat makes a better boss than an employee and, although motivated, they can be pinned down by routines. Rats work better in flexible situations where they can be freely creative.

MONEY AND THE RAT
Cunning and thrifty, Rats have a knack with money and are apt to save for rainy days. When capable, the Rat is a great money saver, and in strapped times he knows how to make something out of nothing or how to turn make things advantageous for himself. Although few Rats suffer financially, the Chinese have a proverb: They who pile up grain hoards have much to lose.

Travel delights the Rat personality and ignites his curiosity. Sunbathing is not the ideal way for a Rat to spend his vacation. Rats are adventurers. They want to explore, examine, visit and party during their time off. They want to try new foods, find new sights and experience the culture of the area they are visiting. And, of course, if they can come home with an exotic souvenir to add to their collection their vacation will have been an instant success.

FRIENDS AND ENEMIES

Generally friendly and sociable, the Rat is one of the extroverts of the Animal Zodiac. Often, the Rat is lively and genial, and has a special gift for easing the minds of others. Of course, there is always that renowned Rat lure that allows them to charm the pants off of people! To the people they love, Rats can be amazingly charitable, popular and supportive, and will go out of their way to be certain their loved ones are content. On the other hand, if the Rat does not like someone, he is considered fair game and can be used to achieve any and all of the Rat's desires. At the end of the day, though, the Rat is a loyal friend and will be there for his companions through thick and thin.

Compatible Friends: Dragons and Monkeys
Mortal Enemy: Horses

RAT PARENTS AND CHILDREN
Rat parents are dedicated to their children. They encompass their little ones with love and attention and enjoy watching their offspring grow and experience the world. When their children are small they brood a great deal over them. Rats become concerned if their babies don't develop as quickly as other children. They anguish over whether or not they are raising their youngsters correctly. With the mental capacity to pick things up easily, Rats tend to get agitated with people who are not quite as quick-witted as they are. No wonder this trait could lead to conflict between Rat parents and their children should any of their children be late bloomers or harbor learning disabilities. Overall, Rats are indulgent parents who don't like denying their youngsters of things they want, and the children soon learn how to wrap their parents around their little fingers.

THE RAT INFANT AND CHILD
Rat babies love to be loved and cuddled. When they are young, Rat babies tend to depend tremendously on their parents, but later in life they develop natural leadership qualities. During their baby years, Rats mature slowly, but gain momentum as they become toddlers. Eventually, they begin to exhibit active mentalities, so, in the early years, plenty of sleep is necessary. In school, the young Rats are eager to learn. It is then, too, that Rats begin collecting things, and like to fill their bedrooms with pebbles, shells and keepsakes of every kind. Generally, young Rats are smart little people who are artistic and literary students. They are well-rounded and many of them do well in sports, too. Being born in the first sign of the Chinese horoscope motivates these children to be pioneers and gives them a need to be first in line.

RAT PARENT/CHILD KINSHIPS
Some parents click immediately with their children and others find they will never have a close relationship no matter how hard they try to make it happen. Following are the compatibility ratings between Rat parents and their children.

Lovers and partners

Rats are beautiful people with magnetic personalities. The Rat himself can't help but notice the admiration he receives from others. If the Chinese say there are few poor Rats, there are an even fewer number who are not sexually stimulating- especially as young people. Rat people are romantic, and are always happier to have someone to share with.

RAT ENRAPTURE
One of the Rat's greatest assets is his charm. Rats can melt hearts with their smiles. Add that to their coquettish personalities and you can easily see how they conquer the hearts of others. And, since Rats love to go out, they have plenty of chances to meet potential suitors or future partners. An annoying quirk of some Rats is they have a difficult time severing ties with former lovers. Obviously, this can pose potential conflicts for the Rat and his new lover and can even endanger his ability to develop new relationships. When the Rat finally settles down with Mr. or Ms. Right, he will find a sincere satisfaction in the intimacy of the partnership.

A RAT'S PARTNER
Although Rats like to be in the driver's seat, they do need partners who can keep up with their active lifestyles. Chinese horoscopes are very specific about which partnerships have the potential to be successful in love and in business. Not many people could equal the resolution and fearlessness the Ox exhibits when deciding to accomplish a task or an objective. As we used this great creature long ago to plow the soil day after day, so do Ox people labor through their daily responsibilities either at work or at home without complaint or gripe. Oxen know they will succeed through hard work and sustained effort and find no truth or benefit in concocting get-rich-quick schemes.

Years of the Ox

Ox years are second in sequence and recur every twelve years. The Chinese New Year does not fall on a specific date, so it is essential to check the calendar to find the exact date on which each Ox year actually begins.

THE SIGN OF THE OX

Pragmatic and down-to-earth, Ox people are motivated to work hard and have no respect for lazy or careless people. Although they can be easily trusted and find it easy to put trust in others, they are not dependent on friends and family and would rather find an answer or a solution themselves than to ask these people for help or guidance. However, others can, without a doubt rely on Oxen, who are always honest and meticulous about their responsibilities. While they do not feel the need for many distant or acquaintance-oriented friendships, they value the strong bonds they share with their partners and families, and make close friends that last a lifetime.

Though they are quite open-minded, once Ox people have made a decision about something, they rarely change it. This is a defining characteristic that can be seen as obstinacy, but it is actually the way an Ox learns to be strong, brave and straightforward. It is the way the Ox learned to take on tasks and responsibilities and how he learns to be reliable for others. Oxen are more comfortable with the well-known as opposed to the unfamiliar. Yet, beneath their unpretentious, tranquil exterior lies a heart of gold and a motivation to prosper.

OXEN FACTS:

People born in the Year of the Ox share certain characteristics. The Ox sign is an abbreviated way of characterizing that individual’s personality. Following are features associated with the sign of the Ox.

Hour—1am-2:59am Month—January

Western Counterpart—Capricorn

CHARACTERISTICS

Obstinate, Pouty, Truthful, Motivated, Friendly, Apathetic, Genuine, Quick-tempered

IN YOUR ELEMENT

The characteristics of the Ox sign are tempered by one of the five Chinese elements of Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth overlaying a 5-year cycle of characteristics on the original 12-year cycle.

THE METAL OX 1901 AND 1961

Metal Ox people work harder and more scrupulously than most people, including other Oxen. They always show a boldness and drive and will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. Like all Oxen, they are completely trustworthy and dependable, but they are not ones to display their emotions freely or openly. These Oxen have the strength of steel, with a will to match. Often, this strength and ruthless will make it difficult for them to identify with the feelings of others around them. However, an Ox is always willing to defend what he knows to be true and won’t give up until he has proven what he knows to be true.

THE WATER OX 1913 AND 1973

The Water element gives the Ox a flexibility and liberty. Water Oxen are as hard-working as anyone, and particularly systematic, and are probably the quickest-thinking of the other elemental Oxen. They are much more prepared than the other Oxen to recognize the pints of view of others and to think about their ideas and suggestions, making them easy to work with in a business environment. They generally consider the feelings of others which makes them good roommates or partners. In addition, their sincerity and patience ensures their popularity with friends, peers and family.

THE WOOD OX 192S AND 1985

A more liberal attitude gives them the ability to appreciate the value of being a part of a team, and other members of the team respect the high principles of the Wood Ox. They are particularly self-confident giving them an air of unspoken authority. This characteristic means that Wood Oxen are often chosen as leaders or spokespeople. They also have a shorter fuse than other Ox people, and are more likely to be outspoken or to stand up in a crowd to be heard. These Oxen are quite devoted to those they love and make strong and affectionate friends and relations.

THE FIRE OX 1937 AND 1997

Being born under the fire sign gives these Oxen dynamic qualities. Their leadership capabilities are tremendous, and they have to desire to be in charge so they generally hold positions of status and importance at work and in the community. They are capable of being extremely objective, but these Oxen can display hot tempers, throw temper-tantrums or be unusually impulsive in their decision-making. This can be dangerous because it may cause them to brush aside valuable ideas, discarding them before actually considering the implications associated with doing so. Even so, they tend to be loyal people. Devoutly dedicated to their family.

THE EARTH OX 1949 AND 2009

The most reliable and diligent Oxen belong to this collection of Oxen. The Earth element balances many of their negative characteristics. These Oxen are show good judgement, a good characteristic for successful financial dealings. Other people tend to look up to Earth Oxen because of their reliability, sincerity and their modest ambitions. They are willing to tackle the workload when it become overbearing for others and are loyal and compassionate with family and friends.

People born under the sign of the Ox usually have strong codes and work ethics. This can lead to a tendency to be a workaholic, and they should make an effort to relax more. Many Oxen work in relatively stationary occupations, and would benefit from squeezing a little exercise into their routines. They are prone to bone and joint problems - especially the knees - and must pay special attention to these areas. However, Ox people are usually strong and robust, and, according to ancient wisdom, should be blessed with long lives.

AT HOME WITH THE OX

The Ox’s home is his castle, a place where he finds relaxation and peace from the everyday hustle and bustle of his career or responsibilities. This is where he spends time with his friends and loved ones. The Ox person doesn’t put a lot of effort into making his house stylish, for he would much rather be comfortable while reading the newspaper or watching television. He doesn’t spend much time indoors anyway—he wants to be outside, smelling the air, planting gardens and trees, which will usually be evidenced by the botanical literature you will find on his bookshelf or on his coffee table. Ox people prefer to live in the country. The Ox generally prefers to decorate his home with nature’s colors, i.e. golds, greens and oranges. However, since the Ox is associated with January, winter colors might be more appealing.

CAREER AND FINANCE

THE OX ON THE JOB

Able, ethical and aware, colleagues of the Ox will marvel at their methodical approach and will depend on their eyes for detail. Oxen are not phased by routines, probably because they are so well-organized. They are better-suited for specialized positions and prefer to work in large companies. They do, however, work best when they work alone since they can be unhappy when participating in a large group.

They are very happy just staying at home, spending their summer vacations catching up with the hobbies and pastimes that their workloads have prevented them from taking on previously. Whether they are planting flower beds, or enjoying a sunset on their newly-built front porch, it is all quite satisfying to them. If they do decide to take a trip, you can bet they’ll head for the hills to do some hiking or rock climbing.

FRIENDS AND ENEMIES

Oxen are not the most sociable people and tend not to mix easily in social gatherings. Instead, they would rather be at home, enjoying their privacy and anonymity. Unlike the Rat, the Monkey, or the Rooster, the Oxen tend not to have a little black book, preferring a few very loyal friends to a large network of acquaintances. Oxen do know how to shine at social occasions, but more often than not they dislike small talk. These are wary people, unlikely to ignite friendships on the spur of the moment. OX PARENTS AND CHILDREN

Oxen make very protective parents. People born under this sign will unselfishly work their fingers to the bone to provide a thriving, happy and secure home where their children feel safe. In comparison to other parents, Oxen can seem a bit authoritarian but they are conventional and believe in instilling within their children a belief system. A good education is especially important and by utilizing their educational opportunities, Oxen children can make their lives and relationships with their parents a lot easier. Ox parents expect their children to listen, behave and be attentive while they are at school. Showing rebellion is the fastest way to be punished in the Oxen household.

Children born under the sign of the Ox are quiet and amenable. They develop into solid, independent,

resourceful children, and are happiest when left to entertain themselves. If interrupted, provoked or forced

to do something against their will, they are likely to pout or show themselves, despite their audience.

Generally, Ox-born children are shy, and for many, childhood is quite lonely partly due to them liking to be

alone and partly because their siblings are usually much older or younger than they.

Years of the Tiger

Tiger Years are third in the cycle and recur every twelfth year. The Chinese New Year does not fall on a specific date, so it is essential to check the calendar to find the exact date on which each Tiger year actually begins.

THE SIGN OF THE TIGER

Tigers do not find worth in power or money. They will be completely honest about how they feel and expect the same of you. On the other hand, they seek approval from peers and family. Generally, because of their charming personalities Tigers are well liked. Often, failing at a given task or being unproductive in his personal or professional life can cause a Tiger to experience a depression. Criticism from loved ones can also generate this type of Tiger reaction. Still, like all felines, Tigers always land on their feet, ready for their next act in life, pursuing it with unyielding energy and hunting it infallibly.

Tigers are also incorrigibly competitive - they simply cannot pass up a challenge, especially when honor is at stake, or they are protecting those they love. Tigers are unpredictable and it would be unwise to underestimate their reactions. They may appear cool, but they have the Big Cat's instincts to pounce at a moment's warning. Natural leaders, they have a strong sense of their own dignity, and if they find

themselves in the ranks, they can be stubborn and obstinate. In positions of power they can be difficult though stimulating bosses. Tigers are intelligent, alert, and farsighted. They have their fingers on the pulse. Good strategists and tacticians, they often have a hidden agenda. As long as they do not risk their luck too often, and keep their restless nature under control, their tactics usually pay off in life.

TIGER FACTS:

People born in the year of the Tiger share certain characteristics. The Tiger sign is an abbreviated way of characterizing that individual’s personality. Following are features associated with the sign of the Tiger.

Third in order, Chinese name - HU, sign of courage

Hour--am-4:59am Month--February

Western counterpart—Aquarius

CHARACTERISTICS

Courage, Vehemence, Self-Reliance, Friendliness, Hopefulness, Resilience, Vanity, Disregard

IN YOUR ELEMENT

The characteristics of the Tiger are tempered by one of the five Chinese elements of Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth overlaying a 5-year cycle of characteristics on the original 12-year cycle.

THE METAL TIGER 195O AND 2010

The Metal element gives the Tiger its sharpness in action and speed of thought. Tigers born in the Metal year like to stand out in a crowd. With an inspiring assertiveness and competitive demeanor, they determine their goals and then do anything necessary to achieve them. This good-looking character sometimes suffers from mood swings and temper tantrums. The Tiger can be known to jump to conclusions or to act too quickly without weighing the options or understanding the consequences. This is a flaw Tigers must learn to curb.

THE WATER TIGER 1902 AND 1962

The Water element gives the Tiger a soothing characteristic making this breed a bit more tranquil. Their ability to consider feelings and ideas from other people makes them quite sensible and understanding. They are also born with a great intuitive power, which gives them accurate and excellent judgement. The Tiger is a bit indecisive, a habit of nature born of his routine of watching and waiting before leaping. Sometimes too, Tigers get caught sleeping or daydreaming, prohibiting them from going for the goals they initially set out to accomplish.

THE WOOD TIGER 1914 AND 1974

The Wood Tiger is more adaptable to working with others and therefore does not demonstrate the typical "take charge" attitude of other Tigers. The Wood element adds stability, giving him warmth of character that draws people in and makes the Tiger a popular person. They are not selfish creatures and will give their time, attention or possessions to anyone in need. These Tigers bring a solid practicality to any problem. They can control their urges to completely take over, letting others do the work. They must be aware of their slightly volatile tempers and short attention spans, and not let those characteristics get the best of them or cause them or their loved ones undue pain.

THE FIRE TIGER 1926 AND 1986

Eccentric and dramatic, Fire Tigers are aglow with passion and verve. They are outgoing, expressive and look on the bright side of things. They have the Tiger’s natural ability to lead others and are able to excite others simply with their own gift of enthusiasm. They can be funny and have great senses of humor. Tigers are powerful speakers and have the ability to command and persuade crowds through speech. Their own seemingly endless supply of energy can make them appear a bit dramatic, and it may make them more sensitive to cautious or down-to-earth approaches in others.

THE EARTH TIGER 1938 AND 1998

Earth Tigers are realists and tend not to get caught up by their own enthusiasm and excitement. They have a stout and sincere sense of responsibility that other Tigers haven’t quite cultivated and are not so easily distracted. These Tigers take life a little easier and have the ability to focus for longer periods of time, which in turn brings them success through continued effort. Earth Tigers must be careful not to take life too seriously and must remember not to lose their senses of humor or to ignore the needs and feelings of others.

HEALTH AND HOME

HEALTH

Tigers tackle everything in their lives in brief bursts of energy, collapsing afterwards in a heap of exhaustion. Normally they are soon back to full strength, but their approach can cause their long-term health to suffer. They should take it a little easier and learn to pace themselves to keep active longer and to prevent early burnout. They are blessed with flexibility and recover quickly from illness or pain. They owe it to themselves to relax a little. Along with the fitness of their long-term health, Tigers must be aware of how they react to and are affected by the consequences of their tempers. A Tiger’s meanest enemy is the damage he can inflict upon himself in the midst of a temper tantrum.

AT HOME WITH THE TIGER

Tigers take pride in being different than others and generally illustrate their originality best in their homes. Tigers can utilize their atmosphere with color and light. A Tiger’s home will be filled with exotic treasures from trips past and will include items such as Tibetan prayer mats or African carvings, confirming their desire to travel to distant places.

THE WOOD RABBIT 1915 AND 1975

Wood Rabbits tend to be the least bit indecisive. This is probably due to their always wanting to play the peacemaker and not wanting to hurt other people’s feelings. Wood Rabbits are incredibly generous souls and like to avoid the spotlight instead preferring to live amongst others. These people are always kind enough to help you move into a new house, make you a hot cup of coffee or to listen while you rant and rave about your latest character flaw. The Wood Rabbit can sometimes be too kind for his own good, thus causing him to be taken advantage of and sometimes even used by others unknowingly. Rabbits have to learn to say no and to out their feet down or their cups will overflow.

THE FIRE RABBIT 1927 AND 1987

Fire adds an unspoken magnetism and mystery to the Rabbit. These creatures have a burning desire to get out there and live life to its fullest. They are active and adventurous and love anything that sparks their creativity or curiosity. They can throw tantrums here and there, if provoked, but most of the time they work very hard to avoid conflict or unpleasant confrontations. Fire Rabbits are charming and tend to push their emotions into the backs of their minds, but will speak up if necessary.

THE EARTH RABBIT 1939 AND 1999

The Earth element gives these Rabbits a sense of reality and practicality that others don’t illustrate so freely. They are able to give sound advice, which in turn gets them respect and trust from those who solicit their counsel. They take pride in their homes and work diligently to make them a place of security for their loved ones. In the same breath, Earth Rabbits put a great deal of value on material comforts and like to make money.

HEALTH AND HABITAT

Many Rabbit people have large families. The Chinese say this is due, in part, to them being the sign of fertility. Although they love their children intensely and take care of them quite affectionately, sometimes Rabbit parents can come off as looking uninterested or distant. Still, Rabbits are so defending of their children that they often appear strict and overbearing.

When their children are little, Rabbit parents will dress them in cute little outfits and will insist they act mild mannered and politely. Rabbits often find themselves wrapped around the tiny fingers of their kids and will do anything for them, too make them happy and to keep the peace. Rabbits despise arguing with their children, as conflict makes them quite uncomfortable, and they will avoid it at all costs. Rabbits will always be there for their children and will help them even as they grow and mature. They find themselves there for their kids throughout their lives.

RABBIT INFANT AND CHILD

Young Rabbits are very sensitive children. They tend to let their emotions get the best of them and will cry with no remorse. They depend on their mothers for advice and support and will reciprocate when necessary. THE SIGN OF THE HORSE

Horse people are extemporaneous and quick-witted. They are quite intelligent and use their practicality to their advantage in their business and personal lives. Their sharpness makes them quick to pick up new skills and are able to handle many tasks at one time. However, this ambition can be harmful because Horse people often don’t finish what they start for fear of missing out on the next big challenge.

Horses are trustworthy, friendly and open-minded. They are good friends to have and will always be honest with you. Although they are good confidants, Horse people do enjoy their alone time and are usually independent people. They can struggle with obstinance and self-centeredness, which can lead to a flare of the temper if they don’t get their way. Usually, after an episode or temper-tantrum a Horse can feel remorse, yet not all people will be able to forgive their reaction.

HORSE FACTS:

People born in the Year of the Horse share certain characteristics. The Horse Sign is an abbreviated way of characterizing that individual’s personality. Following are features associated with the Sign of the Horse.

Seventh in order, Chinese name—MA, sign of enthusiasm and elegance

Hour—11am-12:59pm Month—June

Western Counterpart—Gemini

CHARACTERISTICS

Self-reliant, Joyful, Outgoing, Sophisticated, Greedy, Resilient, Arrogant

IN YOUR ELEMENT

The characteristics of the Horse are tempered by one of the five Chinese elements of Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth overlaying a 5-year cycle of characteristics on the original 12-year cycle.

THE METAL HORSE 1930 AND 1990

The Metal Horse loves to roam. He is self-sufficient and treasures his freedom and liberation. Any type of committed situation is sure to send this Horse running for the hills, so a stable relationship is certainly not his idea of a priority. Horses change jobs and partners frequently because of their need for adventure and their desire to tap into the unknown. This vigor and untamed spirit draws people to the Horse. The Metal Horse will make a better friend than partner because a friendship doesn’t tie him down the way a relationship does.

THE WATER HORSE 1942 AND 2002

Water Horses are quite adaptable. They make the best out of their situations, yet are the most indecisive of the elemental horses. Like the element that characterizes it, the Water Horse moves in many different directions, depending on the flow of the situation and can therefore change his mind several times a day. This can cause confusion with colleagues and partners alike, but most people chalk it up to the Horse’s adaptable nature and his ability to go with the flow of things. However frustrating it can be, the Water Horse will always cheer you up and be able to get a smile back on your face before you even knew he had upset you.

THE WOOD HORSE 1954 AND 2014

Like other Animal Signs, wood gives this Horse stability and strength. These Horses don’t have such a hard time making decisions that other Horses do. Their ability to stick to their guns makes them a bit more predictable than other Horses. They are better equipped to maintain a disciplined approach to their lives and the lives of those they are associated with. They have no problem working with other people and to a point, Wood Horses will stick to their scheduled tasks more readily than other Animal Signs, or even other elemental Horse signs. Because of their ability to easily adapt and work with other people they are successful in their professional and personal lives. Still, don’t try to tell a Wood Horse what to do unless you are his superior. Otherwise, he will simply gawk at your attempt to boss him around.

THE FIRE HORSE 1906 AND 1966

The Fire Horse is animated and sociable. He has a wild side that leads him to a life on the edge. Fire Horses are generally either incredibly lucky or ridiculously unlucky. They love the excitement of action and the change it brings. The Fire element makes them passionate about their feelings and they always take a stand in a situation. Fire Horses are never on the fence about anything and have definitive opinions about the world. Their tempers can be overbearing

THE EARTH HORSE 1918 AND 1978

Earth Horses are able to see situations from all angles and corners. They are relatively easygoing, preferring to determine each pro and con before making a final decision. Earth Horses work hard to accomplish goals they have set and would rather take longer to do an outstanding job than to work shorter and shave a little quality. They have great senses of humor and are extremely adaptable in most instances.

HEALTH AND HABITAT

HEALTH

When concerning health issues, Horses exuberate a strength known only by the animal they are shaped after. Horse people are usually quite healthy people, perhaps due to their positivity, perhaps due to their athleticism. They get a lot of exercise and love to be out in the air and open spaces. If they can’t be outside hey begin to feel run down and out of their element. Horses must be careful to resist the pressures of alcohol and nicotine that often suck them in in times of despair or stress.

AT HOME WITH THE HORSE

Horses love company and therefore will always welcome visitors in for a hearty chat or a wholesome meal. As aforementioned, Horses don’t always finish what they start, especially if something more exciting came along, so there are likely to be various unfinished projects in their homes. In addition, there may be a few dirty dishes in the sink or a couple of unwashed loads of laundry, as housework and chores aren’t the Horse’s forte. They fill their homes with autumn colors such as gold and orange and create an atmosphere that is both comfortable and beautiful.

CAREER AND FINANCE

THE HORSE AT WORK

Their willingness to try anything and their ability to pick up new skills with ease makes Horses suitable for most any careers they choose to tackle. However, they may reconsider if taking orders or following strict routines are involved. They are people persons and enjoy occupations that allow them to interact with other people. Their need to be independent and self-reliant makes them crave positions of power and they are well-suited for careers in the field of communications. Horses are smart, fabulous speakers who have a gift for getting through to other people.

MONEY AND THE HORSE

Horses don’t think much about money. When they have it, they spend it. When they run out, they make more. Money does not constitute a Horse’s happiness or well-being. He feels it is only icing on the cake to have some and would rather buy fun things than hoard it or save it. His philosophy? You can’t take it with you.

HORSE PARENTS AND BABIES

Horses are notorious for their ability to do several things at one time. They can carry on a conversation, watch the news, fold the laundry and watch the kids, all at once. These abilities certainly come in handy when raising a child. Horse parents work very hard to make sure their children are intellectually and creatively stimulated and to make sure they depend only on themselves when problem-solving or figuring something out. They feel strongly that children should be independent and should be taught basic principles that will enable them to depend more on themselves than on anyone else. If Horse parents are not careful, this very tenet may case them to appear cool, unsentimental parents concerned more with helping themselves than with helping their children.

HORSE INFANT AND CHILD

Horse children are chatty! At an early age these kids begin gurgling and "talking" to themselves. They love to hear their own voice and so will babble for hours without saying anything at all. Eventually, these children will make great language scholars who will excel at communications. Horse children are as independent as possible and will fight for their rights if they feel they’ve been wronged. They will also rebel if they feel justice has not been served.

Most Monkeys enjoy the activity offered by the city life rather than the quiet and tranquility offered in a more rural lifestyle. They crave being in the middle of things, enjoying life from a spectator’s view. They also enjoy people-watching and can amuse themselves for hours at a time by just watching the people walk by. They need a view, and their homes are usually filled with windows and picturesque drawings.

CAREER AND FINANCE

THE MONKEY AT WORK

A Monkey’s good memory and his ability to adapt are two of his most prized possessions. He is intelligent and stoic, able to pick new trades up quickly and easily. Monkeys are also able to do all the work in half the time it takes someone else, but will charge you double what someone else would charge. As such, Monkeys generally take occupations in the world of finance, such as banking, stock exchange or accounting.

MONEY AND THE MONKEY

Monkeys are just as good as spending money as they are at making it. They can’t really save it because it burns a hole in their pockets. Occasionally though, Monkeys should put a little away today for an emergency tomorrow.

Monkey parents don’t experience the generation gap other families might, partly because they remember what it is like to be a child. However, becoming a parent can cramp a Monkey’s style. THE SIGN OF THE ROOSTER

Roosters are very loyal individuals. They do not like dishonesty or mockery of any sort. They are blunt, up front and honest people and expect those around them to be the same. Roosters are happiest when they are surrounded by others, at a party or just a social gathering. They even enjoy the spotlight and will exhibit their charisma and wit in a minute. This star quality can be overbearing, for a Rooster expects you to listen to him while he speaks and can become agitated if you don’t. Roosters do have a tendency to brag about themselves and their achievements and demand an attentive audience when doing so.

ROOSTER FACTS:

People born in the Year of the Rooster share certain characteristics. The Rooster Sign is an abbreviated way of characterizing that individual’s personality. Following are features associated with the Sign of the Rooster.

Tenth in order, Chinese name—JI, sign of honesty

Hour—5pm-6:59pm Month—September

Western Counterpart—Virgo

CHARACTERISTICS

Brave, Romantic, Motivated, Proud, Blunt, Resentful, Boastful

IN YOUR ELEMENT

The characteristics of the Rooster are tempered by one of the five Chinese elements of Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth overlaying a 5-year cycle of characteristics on the original 12-year cycle.

THE METAL ROOSTER 1921 AND 1981

Metal Roosters can come off as arrogant and stuck up at times. They need a cushion for that overextended ego and someone to make sure it stays inflated. They are reasonable people who seem to analyze every decision they make and every situation they find themselves in. They are standoffish at times and can let their aggression get in the way of a blossoming friendship or romance. These Roosters should take a breather from their egos long enough to really enjoy what they have to offer.

THE WATER ROOSTER 1933 AND 1993

This Rooster is a bit more docile than the other Roosters. He is quieter, more tranquil, not as vocal or as spotlight hungry as other Roosters. These Roosters are great communicators probably because they do possess the ability to tone things down a bit. They have boundless energy that sometimes gets caught up in detail which causes a lapse in concentration. They have to learn to appreciate detail but not to harp on it, otherwise they may miss the final destination.

THE WOOD ROOSTER 194S AND 2005

This Rooster is different in that he enjoys being a part of the team rather than in the spotlight like other Roosters. He likes the company of others and is a genuine friend. These Roosters work for the betterment of society, working diligently to change the evils of it. They expect quality attempts from others involved with the causes and sometimes expect too much of their co-volunteers, as they do of themselves. Often, because of this desire to help society, these Roosters overcommitt themselves, unable to finish what they’ve started.

THE FIRE ROOSTER 1957 AND 2017

A Fire Rooster’s image is his most prized possession. He spends a lot of time making himself look good, causing him to appear vain. He is flaunty and dramatic, yet he is a brilliant social organizer who loves to plan parties and gatherings. They do have a tendency to be a bit bossy and this combined with a bluntness can cause hurt feelings and bruised egos amongst co-workers. Still, these Roosters make great leaders, creative, diligent and motivated.

THE EARTH ROOSTER 1909 AND 1969

This Rooster is overtly organized. He is a little reserved and quite careful in his decision-making. These Roosters are hard workers as well, and can handle several tasks at once. They are detail-oriented who are quite efficient and self-sufficient. They take on responsibility without a cause and are motivated only in wanting to be successful. Sometimes they can be abrasive with colleagues if work is not up to their standards. This can cause resentment, so the Earth Rooster must be careful in his approach of his point of view, being sure to be honest and still kind.

HEALTH AND HABITAT
HEALTH

Roosters are typically fit people. They enjoy sports and active hobbies such as hiking and swimming. They don’t get sick very often because they tend to fight illness fairly well. However, when they do get ill, they usually bounce right back. Roosters can be a little high strung, suffering from dramatic mood swings and stress.

AT HOME WITH THE ROOSTER

As proud as they are of themselves, you can only imagine how they are about their homes. Roosters put a lot of effort into their homes as they reflect the Roosters assets and taste. They are very neat and clean and have everything in its own specific place. They make a chore out of cleaning out drawers and closets with a knack for rearranging them better and better each time they attempt it. This habit is enough to drive anyone berserk, but a Rooster’s family understands his need for a dramatic appearance.

CAREER AND FINANCE

THE ROOSTER AT WORK

Roosters are more motivated than most other Animal Signs, making their careers a priority in their lives. They are hard working, flexible individuals able to stick to the given tasks. They are generally successful individuals who reach the top of their chosen professions.

MONEY AND THE ROOSTER

An eye for detail means the Rooster is pretty good at handling his finances. He is able to give others good financial advice and can help get budgets under control. However, when it comes to his own finances, the Rooster is either or. He either spends it all or hoards it for a rainy day.

LOVERS AND SPOUSES

THE ROOSTER LOVER

Roosters are generally pretty black or white when it comes to their feelings. They either like you, or they don’t. There is no in between. Although they are vocal with opinions and ideas, Roosters are pretty tight-lipped about their personal emotions and feelings. They certainly don’t wear their hearts on their sleeves. They are intensely private people who never kiss and tell.

MARRIAGE

Roosters are not extremely easy to live with. However, if you can get past their bossy, obstinate, my way or no way exterior, you find a wonderfully romantic, caring individual hidden beneath. Their hearts are made of solid gold and they genuinely care abut their family and friends as mush as they care about themselves (believe it or not!). They are not suited for a sensitive partner, again, their candor and wit can be humiliating at times. Roosters can be highly critical of their partners, often expecting too much of them.

THE ROOSTER LOVE PARTNER

Roosters need a stable companion, one who can take everything he dishes out. He needs someone who will stand up to him and his mincing words and out him in place when need be. Roosters also need partners who will deflate them when they are a bit too high on themselves and who can take their constant boasting.

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year - The Year of the Dog

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chinese New Year is the longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar. The Chinese year 4704 begins on Jan. 29, 2006.

Chinese months are reckoned by the lunar calendar, with each month beginning on the darkest day. New Year festivities traditionally start on the first day of the month and continue until the fifteenth, when the moon is brightest. In China, people may take weeks of holiday from work to prepare for and celebrate the New Year.

Legend has it that in ancient times, Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. Twelve came, and Buddha named a year after each one. He announced that the people born in each animal's year would have some of that animal's personality. Those born in dog years tend to be loyal, kind, and generous. They will work to right wrongs and are able to keep secrets. Bill Clinton, Shirley MacLain, Benjamin Franklin, and Jane Goodall were all born in the year of the dog.

At Chinese New Year celebrations people wear red clothes, decorate with poems on red paper, and give children "lucky money" in red envelopes. Red symbolizes fire, which according to legend can drive away bad luck. The fireworks that shower the festivities are rooted in a similar ancient custom. Long ago, people in China lit bamboo stalks, believing that the crackling flames would frighten evil spirits.

In China, the New Year is a time of family reunion. Family members gather at each other's homes for visits and shared meals, most significantly a feast on New Year's Eve. In the United States, however, many early Chinese immigrants arrived without their families, and found a sense of community through neighborhood associations instead. Today, many Chinese-American neighborhood associations host banquets and other New Year events.
Chinese New Year ends with the lantern festival on the fifteenth day of the month. Some of the lanterns may be works of art, painted with birds, animals, flowers, zodiac signs, and scenes from legend and history. People hang glowing lanterns in temples, and carry lanterns to an evening parade under the light of the full moon.

In many areas the highlight of the lantern festival is the dragon dance. The dragon—which might stretch a hundred feet long—is typically made of silk, paper, and bamboo. Traditionally the dragon is held aloft by young men who dance as they guide the colorful beast through the streets. In the United States, where the New Year is celebrated with a shortened schedule, the dragon dance always takes place on a weekend. In addition, many Chinese-American communities have added American parade elements such as marching bands and floats.

Chinese Astrology Predictions for 2006, the Year of the Dog (January 29, 2006 - February 17, 2007)

"Chinese Astrology: Exploring the Eastern Zodiac")

Chinese Astrology Predictions for 2006:
The Charming RAT 'Tze'
Now is the time to put your life in order and balance any areas of your life that have taken too much prominence lately. Your nervous system could feel tattered as a result of prolonged emotional drama and a steady dose of stimulation. Use 2006 as a new beginning of perspective and strive for serenity. JAN continues to be a healing month and a four star energy period! Everything looks a little cheerier now as restless Rats navigate back onto a productive path. New ideas flow freely and many possibilities and choices are offered to you. FEB is a useful period for making changes to your home. Greatest benefits surround projects in the southeast areas of home or office.

The Stable OX ' Chou'
The beginning of 2006 brings a very auspicious time for Oxen. A time of forward-thinking and flexibility. Socially, relax some and try to have more fun. As JAN approaches, a more obstinate streak in dutiful Oxen rears it's head. Your ideas tend to be set in stone now and this could lead to confrontations on hot issues such as money, children and sex. Compromise can only be productive and give and take on both sides brings a satisfying conclusion. FEB's energies highlight “out with the old and in with the new.” A potential change in living arrangements, while unsettling, will open the door to new adventures which await you this year.

The Courageous TIGER 'Yin'
2006 throws Tiger's into a whirlwind of activity. A medical problem that has been taking up so much of your energy of late, resolves in a satisfactory way. Looking back, you can see how personal stress exacerbated your symptoms and vow to be more aware of this in the future. JAN's Ox-ruled month feels like a wet-blanket thrown on your enthusiasm. Keep the status quo and wait it out, as a wonderful new year is just about to begin! FEB's auspicious climate should be a eventful one. Passionate Tigers come into their own during Feb when their own Tiger-ruled month teams up with the auspicious new Dog year. Anything is possible now.

The Discreet RABBIT 'Mao'
The beginning of 2006 may find Rabbit natives nerves on edge. The eccentric energies of the Rat month make you anxious about your health. A thorough interpersonal housecleaning would serve you well and a parting of ways may be eminent between you and a partner or close associate. Life and love improve after JAN as the Rabbit's good friend the Dog ushers in a New Year and auspicious energies for you on the 29th. Excitement and luxury are the gifts of Feb's Tiger-ruled month and new ideas lead to new adventures. A widening of your social circle may well lead to a meaningful romance which will strengthen as the year progresses.

The Outspoken DRAGON 'Chen'
Dragons enjoy an unpredictable year rich with social invitations and increased visibility. Be cautious however, as the Dog year is your opposite sign and this may usher in the wrong kind of publicity. Whether in business or romance the Dragon finds the ideal climate in JAN's Rat-ruled month. Past projects are brought to their zenith and successful conclusion now. In FEB be sure to keep your word on any commitments during this rather stagnant period. Don't become frustrated by obstacles now as the New Year of the Dog makes it's entrance on the 29th. As the Rabbit-ruled month of MAR arrives, Dragons find the potential for career improvement and recognition for successful achievement. An award of some type may also be involved.

The Philosophical SNAKE 'Si'
2006 could prove to be a year of reaching goals, completing projects and ggressive acquisition for those born into Snake years. Success in both mundane and esoteric pursuits. Hard work pays generously during the fortunate Ox month of JAN. Dedicated commitment to your goals will bring rewards that will have long-lasting effects. Your superb luck dips a bit in FEB's Tiger-ruled month but not to worry -- if you feel piled with problems, select an easier option. Simplify, prioritize and wisely choose your battles in everything. Withdraw gracefully for now and wait patiently for this cycle to run it's course.

The Talkative HORSE 'Wu'
A direct opposition occurs in JANs Rat-ruled month and Horses feel the pesky influence under their feet. An antagonist may exist and be working against your interests amongst those you consider friends. Keep lines of communication open, be forthright and let the cards fall where they will. In FEB you may feel that your workload leaves no free time for you. Don't despair, this is only a transitional time and your luck is about to become sterling.

Beginning in MAR, healthy Horses find themselves at the top of their power. The double auspicious energies of the Tiger-ruled month teamed up with the new Dog year, completes the "Triangle of Compatibility" for those born into Horse years. An excellent time to marry, start a family or begin major projects.

The Artistic GOAT 'Wei'
2006 should be a time of rest, recuperation and a lightened workload for artistic Goat souls. JAN may be the most challenging months of this season. Hold your current path and don't make any sudden or life-altering changes for the time being. Buy a new sketchbook, favorite hobby/craft supplies or update your personal journal. The Tiger energy in FEB continues to rub against the peace loving Goat's grain. The lesson now is the wisdom of the middle path of moderation and patience. Seek out happy and auspicious events such as parties and enjoyable get-togethers. MAR finds you emerging looking more radiant than ever with a new independence of Spirit and ability to cope.

The Entertaining MONKEY 'Shen'
Monkey's are masters in their ability to manipulate language and ideas during 2006. You are able to talk yourself out of tricky situations and nobody questions your unconventional methods. Your efficiency and ability to get things done, continues into February and socially Monkey's find themselves swept-up in a stream of activity. A mutually supportive partnership makes this period an especially harmonious one. March could rain on your parade with it's path of caution and reserve. Keep your sense of humor and steer clear of arguments and controversy.

The Industrious ROOSTER 'You'
A productive month starts off 2006 for busy Roosters. Your organizational skills really pay off. JAN's Ox-ruled month is very auspicious and for single Roosters there should be plenty of admirers, some from diverse backgrounds. Consider spending some time with a strong and silent type Ox or a sage and sophisticated Snake. FEB could be a bump in the road and difficult month for Roosters as the diffident Dog heralds in the New Year. Use this friction in a positive way to consider improvements to your environment. House extensions, or changing your living space is favored, but hold off on any major move of locations.

The Observant DOG 'Xu'
2006 brings a period of growth and development. Steps taken this year will set the stage for the next two years and lead to noticeable improvements. The time can be spent usefully redistributing assets or reorganizing expenditures. The astral climate dips somewhat during the Ox-ruled month of JAN and a bit of caution is in order. It's all work and no play for a while as your workload gathers momentum. The financial benefits from this come as a lovely surprise next month. FEB's Tiger-ruled month combined with the energies of the New Dog Year make for a 4 star month! If every Dog has their day, then 2006 will indeed be yours. Enjoy!

The Honest PIG 'Hai'
2006 begins with beleaguered Pigs offering moral support and a kind ear to friends and family alike. Try to hear what these folks are not saying, what they may never be able to say. During JAN Pigs feel the urge to go into the wild for a time and hikes, excursions and discovering new hideaways are favored now. It's 4 stars for MAR! This is a wonderful period for Pigs when the excitement of new projects and the possibility of a change in residence or new living arrangement beckons. An excellent chance of meeting up with your soul mate during this awesome month.

Dog Chinese Astrology Sign

In the West, the Dog is man's best friend, but in Chinese Astrology this Sign is a little more unpredictable than that. Dogs are loyal, faithful and honest and always stick to their firm codes of ethics. However, this Sign has trouble trusting others. It's generally quite trustworthy itself -- except for the occasional "little white lies" the Dog tells in order to make things go more smoothly. The Dog makes a wonderful, discreet and loyal friend (despite any white lies) and is an excellent listener. This Sign tends to root for the underdog and its keen sense of right and wrong makes it duty-bound to the core. The Dog's mantra seems to be, Live right, look out for the little people and fight injustice whenever possible.

Dogs can also be rather dogmatic, too. They don't go in for light social banter; instead, they go straight for home, expostulating on the topics that are most important to them. At these times the Dog's narrow-minded or stubborn side can become apparent; this Sign has trouble staying light and calm when an important issue is at stake. This Sign can also be very temperamental; mood swings characterize its emotional life and often the Dog needs to run off to be alone in order to recuperate. Part of the problem is the result of this Sign's load of irrational fears that turn into niggling anxieties that turn into hurt feelings and occasional grouchiness. This sensitive Sign needs to warm up to others over time and gradually learn to trust them. Without that trust as a foundation, Dogs can be judgmental and coarse.

The Dog's discerning nature does make it an excellent business person, one who can turn that picky, guarded nature into a keen sense of the truth of another's motives. Where love is concerned, Dogs often have a tough time finding the right match. They can be so anxious and overwrought in the romance dance that they'll stress their partner to the max! In any forum, this Sign is happiest when able to be quite physically active; at home or at work, the Dog will always be constructing something new or cleaning something up in order to make things better. Dogs need to work on controlling their irrational worries and would also be well-served to relax their mile-high standards, which can sometimes wind up alienating the ones they love.

Dreaming is a part of life

Dreaming is a part of life. Everyone dreams. They dream for as long as they live. Even unborn babies dream in their mother's womb. Dreams are the roots for the state yet to come. Dream is an event that takes place in the world of mind when the whole physical body has gone to rest.

Dreams are the gateway to an inner world, a world just as real as the one outside.Dreams inform us in a visual language about repressed experiences and other process of the unconscious. Dream images and activities, however strange and even meaningless they may seem, show symbolic structures. Dreams became psychotherapy's most important aid in exploration of the unconscious. A knowledge of the meaning of these symbols is of great assistance in the interpretation of your sweetest and most dreadfull dreams.

The Holy Bible and many other great books of history and religious sciences have pointed out that man had faith and belief in dreams from time immemorial. Here are a few major instances that changed the path of history as foretold by dreams.

Joseph saw the eleven stars of the zodiac bow to him as the twelfth star.

The famine of Egypt was revealed to Joseph by a vision of fat and lean cows.

The fall of King Nebuchadnezzar was revealed as the fall of a great statue of several metals by Daniel.

The parents of Jesus, Joseph and Mary were warned of the danger to child Jesus by a dream.

Joan of Arch predicted her death through one of her dreams.

Abraham Lincoln saw himself being shot at, a few years before his death.

The following are some of the interpretations of dream symbols. For your reference the dreams have been sorted out in alphabetical order.

Chinese Astrology 2006 and Horoscope 2006 Red Dog New Year

Chinese Astrology 2006 and Horoscope 2006 Red Dog New Year

Year 2006 is a Chinese Red Fire Dog Year. Why did the Chinese name the year 2006 as the Red Dog Year? Chinese calendar used the Stem-Branch system to count the days, months and years. There are 10 Stems and 12 Branches in this system. Stems are named by the Yin-Yang and Five Elements (Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth). The Stem sequence order is Yang Wood, Yin Wood, Yang Fire, Yin Fire, Yang Earth, Yin Earth, Yang Metal, Yin Metal, Yang Water and Yin Water. Branches use the animal names.

The Branch sequence order is Rat, Cow, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Chicken, Dog and Pig. Stem and Branch are used together to form a cycle of 60 counting systems which begin with Wooden Rat and end with Water Pig. You can see the entire sequence from the Chinese New Year's page. From Year 1924 to 1983 is a complete cycle. Year 2006 is Male Fire Dog , the 23rd of the Stem-Branch in the system. Because Fire is equivalent to color Red in the Five-Element system, Year 2006 is also called Red Dog year. Also, since Fire is hot, we even can say 2006 is the year of Hot Dog.

Year of Dog 2006 is after Monkey 2004 and Chicken 2005. Monkey and Chicken are in the Metal group. So the Dog is the ending year of the Metal cycle. If you are lucky in the past two years because Metal is your lucky element, then 2006 is the last year for your Metal luck. So if you have any unfinished businesses or deals in 2005, then try to finish them and get the profit before people change their mind.

Dog contains Earth, Metal and Fire according to Chinese astrology. Basically, 2006 Male Fire Dog year is favorable to people whose lucky element is Fire. This is because that Dog contains Fire, which will help the Male Fire on the stem to burn. That means Fire Dog is kind of dry and hot, which good for people need Fire to balance their cold birth chart. But everybody has different birth chart. We still have to see the stem relationships and branch relationships between Fire Dog and the birth chart to determine the luck in 2006.

2007 is a year of Pig, which is in the Water group. We can say year 2006 is the turning point from Metal cycle to Water cycle. The turning point year always has some unexpected good or bad events that happen. So we need to watch our steps and pay attention to our safety and health in 2006. People whose lucky element is Water need to plan how to face the oncoming opportunities. We need to plant the tree during the tough period, then we can get more fruit in the lucky year. That means we need to sharpen our skills and absorb more knowledge first, then we can have a better career or money opportunity during the lucky years.

Chinese New Year

The Chinese New Year day is on January 29th, 2006. Because this is a new moon day, it is the first day of the first Chinese lunar month in the Chinese Lunar Calendar system.
The new moon time is at 22:15 on 29-Jan-06 in China time zone. The new moon time is at 06:15 of 29-Jan-06 in the US Pacific Standard Time, so the Chinese New Year day is same on January 29th, 2006 for USA time zones.

In China time zone, the first day of the Red Dog Year is February 4th, 2006, because February 4th, 2006 is the first day of Tiger month and the Tiger month is the first month of a year in Chinese Fortune-Telling Calendar system.

In the Chinese Fortune-Telling calendar, the first day of the first month, Tiger month, is called "Start of Spring", which is when the sun enters the 315th degree on the tropical zodiac. In the China time zone, the time of Start of Spring is at Feb-04 07:27. So the first day of the Red Dog year 2006 is on 04-Feb-06. For USA, the time of Start of Spring is on Feb-03 at 15:27 PST and Feb-03 at 18:27 EST, therefore we can say that the first day of the Chinese Red Dog year is February 3rd, 2006 in USA time zones.

The Year 2006 (Red Dog) is the 4703rd Chinese year. The Chinese believe that the first king of China was the Yellow King (he was not the first emperor of China). The Yellow King became king in 2697 B.C., therefore China will enter the 4703rd year on February 4th, 2006. Also, the Chinese Year uses the cycle of 60 Stem-Branch counting systems and the Red Dog is the 23rd Stem-Branch in the cycle. Since 4700 = (60 *78) + 23, therefore this Red Dog Year is the 4703rd Chinese Year.

Some web sites say the year 2006 is the 4704th Chinese year. If you cannot find the explanation, here is a possible answer for you. The Yellow King's inauguration was held in the spring of 2697 B.C. But the calendar of Yellow King used the winter solstice day as the first day of the year. So the first winter solstice was on around December 23rd, 2698 B.C. Today's January 1st means nothing to Yellow King. If we count that extra eight days in 2698 B.C. for a year, then year 2006 is the 4704th Chinese year.

Forecast using the theory of Five Elements

To forecast the luck in the coming years, we have to know what elements and animals are in our birth chart first from Find Your Lucky Element page.

Year 2006 is the last year of the Metal cycle, which began from year Monkey 2004. The energy of the Metal still continues to year 2006, but will end in June Male Wooden Horse month. Horse is in the Fire group. Wood and Fire are the enemy of Metal and can completely overwhelm the power of Metal. If Metal is your lucky element, then your luck will decrease from June, 2006. But this doesn't mean you will totally be out of luck in the second half of 2006, because you can still have some Metal in the August Monkey Month and September Chicken Month. Also, people's major luck from the 10-Year major cycles, you can check any your Metal in the Find Your Best 10-Year page.

The major elements in the Male Fire Red Dog 2006 are Fire and Earth. Inside the Dog Earth contains Female Metal and Female Fire. So we can say Dog is a dry Earth. Male Fire is like the Sun. It must be hot when Sun is over the dry Earth. Therefore, 2006 is favorable to the people whose birth chars are too cold or too much water and need Earth or Fire to balance. In short, if your lucky element is Fire or Earth, then your luck will much better than past two years.

If your birth chart and your current major cycle contains Tiger and Horse, then 2006 is a very special year for you - either extremely good or bad. This is because Horse, Tiger and together have the mutual attraction relationship and generate very power energy of Fire, plus the Male Fire (sun) increase the heat on the top. If your lucky element is Fire, then 2006 will be one of the best years in your life. If Fire is your unlucky element, then you need to pay more attention on your people relationship, money investment, family, health and safety in 2006.

Male Fire and Female Metal have the Stem Attraction Relationships. When they are together, they might generate Water ingredient. Fire and Water are opposite elements. If Fire is your lucky element, then Water should be the unlucky one. If Fire is the unlucky one, then Water is the lucky element.

Therefore, if Fire is the lucky element, then something looking good (Fire) will come in 2006, but it might end up a bad result (Water). if Water is the lucky element, then some trouble (Fire) might appear in 2006, but you could handle it to be a good ending (Water).

When will Male Fire and Female Metal will generate Water?. The simple rule is to see any animal in the birth chart is in the Water group. Therefore, If the birth chart contains Pig or Rat, then Male Fire and Female Metal probably enable to generate Water.

If the Attraction Relationship is true and ...

Fire represents your money, then the money luck in 2006 is "money comes and goes"
Fire represents your love, then the romance luck in 2006 is "love comes and goes"
Fire represents your career, then the career luck in 2006 is "promotion opportunity comes, then goes"
Fire represents the trouble, then the luck in 2006 is "trouble comes, then goes"
But no matter the Attraction Relationship is true or false, the opportunity is always there.
